The Basic Band

Transform your wardrobe

The Basic Band began its journey in 2021 with their game-changing “tucking band,” a viral, first-to-market innovation. They’ve since expanded their product range and are now on a mission to create a new category of styling tools that maximise the wear and life-cycle of your garments. Our role was to elevate their brand identity, repositioning the brand within the “affordable-luxury” space. We set out to show that these products aren't just clever hacks—they’re thoughtfully designed, high-quality essentials that are sure to become wardrobe staples.

Anything But Basic
The Basic Band monogram is a bold yet versatile symbol that reflects the brand’s core values of creativity, transformation and endless styling possibilities.

Built from the brand’s initials, the BB has been abstracted into a distinctive shape that acts as a key identifier for the brand. Inspired by the butterfly, the mark also speaks to reinvention, reflecting the brand’s ability to transform outfits effortlessly and give new life to existing pieces.

Its fluid form echoes an infinity loop, symbolising adaptability, sustainability and limitless styling potential. Together, these ideas create a logomark that feels expressive, playful and anything but basic.

We designed a packaging style inspired by the simplicity of the product itself, creating a system that feels minimal, restrained and true to the principles of the brand. Developed for launch into physical stores and international online retailers, the box needed to feel refined and shelf-ready, while still being approachable for customers discovering the product for the first time.

The design uses clean infographic cues to explain the product’s function in a clear and engaging way, with illustrative details on the side of pack helping to educate without overwhelming the front. This is balanced with playful typography and eye-catching colour, creating a packaging system that feels simple, distinctive and easy to love.

Style Made Simple
A key challenge for The Basic Band was effectively communicating how their products worked while maintaining visual appeal. To solve this, we developed a visual system that balances function and design, using photographic storytelling and structured layouts that ensure content that is both engaging and easy to understand.

The How-To of Style
Inspired by fashion magazine tutorials and instructional booklets, the system uses clean, grid-based layouts to break down product use step by step. Minimal yet expressive icons and illustrations enhance comprehension, allowing the visuals to serve as an intuitive styling guide without relying on lengthy explanations. This balance of imagery and concise text makes product education seamless while keeping the brand’s identity strong.

By addressing the challenge of conveying product use through still imagery, this system transforms static visuals into an interactive experience, allowing audiences to quickly understand the product’s purpose and versatility.
